The Americans do not demonstrate good citizen’s values as discussed in our text: political knowledge, ideology, tolerance, and participation. But they do not even demonstrate bad citizens’ values as well. Americans are somewhere in the middle. There is no black or white but gray. There are Americans who might not tune into political news but are tolerant of other’s views and ideologies and also votes regularly and then there are Americans who are informed, opinionated and participatory as well but do not tolerate the views of others which can make the political gives and takes difficult (Barbour and Wright, 2017, pg. 363).
